Introduction One of the objectives of 21st century teacher preparation programs is to prepare teachers to teach democratic education. To successfully teach democratically, teachers will need a positive multicultural perspective. When this became a known phenomenon, it prompted teacher education program to include theories and practices of multicultural education into the curriculum. According to previous research, many pre-service teachers have limited understanding of multicultural education, or have prejudices and discriminatory attitudes. Many people who have stereotypical and prejudices opinions possibly developed it through media outlets such as the news, movies or advertisements. This study was conducted to identify if a Media Literacy course would have an effect on multicultural attitudes of prospective teachers (Sahin, Celik, Bilgen 2013). Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify pre-service social studies teachers’ multicultural attitudes/perceptions, and if a Media Literacy course would affect their scores on a multicultural attitude test. The findings of this study could also answer other questions such as: what can be concluded about pre-service social studies teachers attitude on multicultural education, and does the media course have a real impact on teachers’ multicultural scores?
